Today, the Long Island Housing Services, Inc. (LIHS)  and Fair Housing Justice Center (FHJC) joined the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) and seven other fair housing organizations from throughout the country in announcing a settlement with Redfin Corporation, one of the nation’s largest real estate services companies. This settlement agreement will expand opportunities for consumers in communities of color on Long Island and across the nation. (more…)

Greenbriar Luxury Apartments of East Patchogue discriminated based on Source of Income

On May 6, 2021, the Suffolk County Human Rights Commission (SCHRC) found that Greenbriar Luxury Apartments and Marbil Investors, LLC, discriminated against individuals with housing vouchers in violation of the Source of Income provision of the Suffolk County Human Rights Law based on a complaint brought by Long Island Housing Services, Inc. (LIHS).  This is the first decision of the SCHR Commission based on the Suffolk law. (more…)
