Nassau County Public Hearing on Substantial Amendment to Annual Action Plan 8/15/17

FY2017 Annual Action Plan is available for public review for a 14 day comment period from Wednesday, August 2, 2017 – Tuesday August 15, 2017.

To All Interested Parties:

Attached please find a copy of the Public Notice announcing a Public Hearing to be undertaken by the Nassau County Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD).  The purpose of this Hearing is to allow the public time to comment on a proposed Substantial Amendment to the recently completed Annual Action Plan.

As announced in the attached Public Notice, the FY2017 federal budget was recently signed into law (Public Law 115-31).  In the budget Congress appropriated an additional $40 million in Supplemental Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program funds in the FY2017 budget to assist communities who lost significant capacity to serve the homeless after January 2016.  These funds can be used for rapid re-housing and all other critical eligible ESG activities.  Nassau County has been selected to receive an additional $1,414,394.  This Substantial Amendment is necessary to allow the use of new Federal HUD funding.
