Empowering Housing Voucher Holders

Housing voucher holders will be empowered to recognize fair housing violations and what to do when they experience discrimination.

This free webinar will discuss protected categories under the federal, state and local fair housing laws. Examples of housing discrimination and cases that Long Island Housing Services has resolved will be provided.

Fair Lending 101

For Home-buyers, Homeowners, Housing Counselors and Financial Advisors

Attendees will learn about the basics of the mortgage lending industry and the different forms of fair lending discrimination. This free webinar will cover federal, state and local fair housing laws with a specific focus on fair lending will be covered. The long term negative effects that violations of fair housing laws has on the community at large will be discussed.

What is Fair Housing Month?

April is National Fair Housing Month and is dedicated to remembering the life and sacrifice of civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the passage of the Fair Housing Act on April 11, 1968.National Fair Housing Month celebrates the work of President Lyndon B. Johnson in his advocacy for the passage of the Fair Housing Act and advocates for a future of housing equality for all.As we celebrate National Fair Housing Month, we remember the sacrifices and progress of the past and we look forward to the future, when the mission of the Fair Housing Act is fully realized.
