The Long Island Housing Services (LIHS) settlement of a Source of Income and Disability Discrimination complaint against H&G Realty originated with an investigation of New Highway Apartments. H&G Realty has offices in Middle Island and Miller Place, New York.

Brookwood Apartments Settle Source of Income Discrimination Complaints

Long Island Housing Services, Inc. (LIHS) initiated an investigation in 2019 against Brookwood Communities after allegations from prospective renters that the complex was imposing a discriminatory minimum income policy to applicants with housing vouchers.  LIHS’ analysis of its testing and investigation presented sufficient evidence to file a complaint with New York State Division of Human Rights that alleged that Brookwood and its owner, Campbird Management, appeared to be discriminating against individuals with housing vouchers. Campbird operates Brookwood multi-family rental apartment complexes in Ridge, Islip, Holbrook, Sayville, Oakdale, and Bay Shore.

Mastic Beach settles Racial Housing Discrimination suit with LIHS

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law announced today a major settlement in the case of Long Island Housing Services, Inc. v. Village of Mastic Beach (EDNY). This case against the Village of Mastic Beach, New York and Timothy Brojer, the former Village Administrator of Mastic Beach, challenged code enforcement actions of the defendants that were alleged to discriminatorily target African American renters and their landlords in violation of their constitutional rights.
